::Biography::
~Parents~
15 Years ago, the Hojo clan had enlisted a promising youth by the name of Renjikahn Ovanjiru who was a very talented Puppeteer to serve as a guardian of the Third Kazekage. Renjikahn’s keen mind, sharp skills, and disciplined demeanor brought pride to Sunagakure’s ranks for serving their Kage with such devotion. In his spare time Renjikahn would work in the puppet brigade serving as an intern fixing broken puppets that would come into the shop. He could have very well been a member of the Puppet Brigade but it would deprive him of the means to visit his long time academy sweet heart, Mayaku Katsumoto. Renjikahn would visit the Sunagakure hospital and often seek treatment by Mayaku when “accidently” injuring himself in fixing puppets at the workshop. Over time their love would grow strong and their appreciation for each other would become deeper, until the two wed.
An anniversary would pass and the couple celebrated the news of a child coming into their world, with a terrible act soon to follow. One night when Renjikahn would be doing his rounds as a guard, inspecting the halls of the Kazekage residence, he would find a figure lurking in the darkness. Finding the robed figure very suspicious Renjikahn sought to apprehend the intruder on his own as he sought the assistance of other guards that night. To his surprise he was struck from behind by a metallic tail that was saturated with a lethal poison, leaving him paralyzed and only able to bare witness to the kidnapping of his Kazekage.
The next day Mayaku attempted all the poison treatments she knew of, but it would not save Renjikahn from his fate due to the poisons bewildering potency. With his dieing breathe he whispered to his beloved’s ear as he caressed her overgrown tummy, feeling gentle kicks against his palm. A look of shock appeared in her eyes before the Renjikahn exhaled in relief and was no more as the ferocious poison had taken hold of him… His last words to her were… “Do not lose hope.”
~Age 3~
3 Years would pass since the death of Renjikahn, and Mayaku would give birth the day following her husband’s passing. Unsure of what her husband would have called their son, she decided to choose a name that reminded her of the man Renjikahn was- Mithrajin. During her years as a single parent many people would look down at Mayaku and her son as many suspected Renjikahn was a traitor and possibly the cause for the Kazekage’s kidnapping. The relations between Sunagakure and the other neighboring villages withered as the villagers attempted everything they possibly could to locate their missing Kage. It soon seemed like the world was against Mayaku and Mithrajin, except for the guiding and support of the Hojo clan who has always treated Mayaku as one of their own.
~Age 5~
The time soon came when Mithrajin began to show signs of his late father, such as always fixing broken items and being skillful at it as well. Old friends to Renjikahn from the Puppet Brigade believed of his innocence and saw a lot of their friend in Mithrajin, often teaching him parlor tricks in Puppet Mastery since his father was not around. Mayaku appreciated the kindness the few loyal friends she had left in her life, and was gladdened her son could live a life like an average boy.
Over much of his premature life, Mithrajin was taken to the hospital with his mother where he would watch the patients, while his mother would work. It would be one fateful encounter when the young boy walked toward a man presumed to be deceased and touched his hand. The corpse however sprung back to life gasping for air as if traumatized from watching some hellish nightmare. Mayaku rushed over to the reanimated corpse only to get pinned against the wall by it as it was shouting at her face in a panic, “He is here- he is coming!!!” She tried to strike the corpse back down into submission only to watch it fall dead for the second time, and notices the wound he had suffered were the same exact ones Renjikahn had to endure.
That night she sought an elder of the Hojo clan to watch over Mithrajin while she sought to uncover her husband’s murderer. It was present in the eyes of the Hojo elder there was a murderous intent in Mayaku’s heart for taking her beloved husband. It was with a heavy heart that the Hojo agreed to look after the boy until his mother would return- with the prayers she will be alive and well. He informed her that they would give her until day break, and then they would go out in search for her in the Wind Country’s harsh dunes. With deep regret she kisses Mithrajin’s forehead as he lies fast asleep on a chair, promising she will see him again.
The next morning Mithrajin awakens to find a few close Hojo clan members gathering as they go in search for Mayaku, or her remains. Unsure what is going on Mithrajin is asked to stay in bed until his mother arrives to pick him up. A few hours later Suna shinobi retrieve a badly wounded Mayaku who has been poisoned severely and sought the medical council of Chiyo Basuma to cure her ailment. Immediately recognizing the venom coursing through young Mayaku’s veins, Chiyo Basuma attempts to counter it with a possible cure by injecting her with another poison… It seemed like Mayaku would be done for as she laid in a comatose state for a couple of days, and Mithrajin at her side trying to perform medical jutsu but fails miserably each time, unable to save his mother. Chiyo looks on at the boy who seems alone in the world and memories pour in of her own grandson. She prayed that day, so Mayaku would return to her boy and live a long life- and in time it proved her prayers were answered…
~Age 7~
For the next couple of years Mayaku was relieved of her station at the hospital for having succumbed to scars that never left her body. The young mother would secretly live her life not telling a soul of her weakening state. The poison injected into her by Chiyo to combat the venom killing her was only slowing the process down in an excruciating manner. Each time Mayaku sneezed or coughed blood pour from her nose and mouth, each time she cried her tears were mixed with blood, and in her sleep the bitter chill causes her to face insomnia. Mithrajin knew something was wrong with his mother, but she tried her hardest to hide the truth from him and everyone else.
The time soon came when Mithrajin would enter the academy and become a great shinobi like his father and mother, but was uncertain which path to take whether it be to follow in his father’s footsteps as a puppet master or his mother’s footsteps as a medical shinobi. Whatever his decision was, Mayaku was grateful to have lived this long and see her son begin his days in the academy but hoped to see him graduate as a full fledged sand shinobi.
~Age 10~
For the following 3 years Mithrajin would prove to be an exceptionally bright young boy, who showed great chakra control, passion, and unexpectedly… support for his classmates in their growth. His teachers acknowledged the youth’s zeal to learn, and devotion to his work- he was truly the son of Renjinkahn and Mayaku. But what was troubling to his instructors was the great strain the boy was willing to push himself towards becoming not only a puppet master but also a medical shinobi. Despite their failed attempts to try and limit the boy’s progress he did maintain top of his class grades and even respect from his classmates, after being blamed for accusations in his father’s kidnapping of the Kazekage.
Graduation from his training at the academy came, and he was eager to attend it with his ailing mother who was feeling great pain with every breathe she took. Worried for his mother’s safety he told her, “Mom…It is alright we do not have to go. I just want you to get better.” Mayaku smiles faintly toward her son, not wanting to spoil his big day desired nothing more than to be there for Mithrajin. On their way to the graduation, Mayaku began to have heart palpitations as she gripped tightly onto her chest and choked in her words, “No… Not today, not now!” And eventually her face pales and she faints with the cries of her son trying desperately to save his mother.
That night Mithrajin was preparing for a funeral instead of a graduation party as the Hojo clan performed the ceremony. Anger and bitterness ran through his heart, yet confusion and sadness were mixed with his tears. The Hojo who were close to him, gazed upon Mithrajin as their eye color changed to depict his mood being empathetic to his feelings and shared in the grievance. Chiyo Basuma attended the funeral in secret feeling somewhat responsible and left Sunagakure in isolation because of her past mistakes.
Since the loss of both his parents, Mithrajin has grown distant and often hiding his identity. He still maintains his devotion to the 2 practicing arts his parents maintained such as medical and puppet mastery, and hopes to utilize both techniques in killing the man who brought so much suffering in his life…
~Ninja Way~
“A hero upholds 4 things in the world: Learning of the wise, the justice of the great, the prayers of the good, and the valor of the brave. But I am no hero… Merely a man who has seen and done and endured what can never be forgotten or forgiven…”
Mithrajin M. Ovanjiru
