Entry 13
Day 58-64[/i]
This week is another week where I will not forget for the rest of my life. I failed a patient today - and infact was the cause of her death. I made an error in my calculation despite how miniscule it was, it cost a little girl her life... she could not have been any younger than 7 years of age, she came to us for help..., but I could not offer it and now her face is haunting me. This mistake will be the last one I ever make, to her and her family my deepest condolencses... No amount of pity put on me will ever bring this child back to her family, I fu--ed up...
I learned one thing from this lesson that life is a cold hearted bi--- that holds no sympathy for the old and young alike. There is no amount of words that would describe the amount of guilt I feel, yet wonder... how Sasori of the Red Sands could kill 266 people without remorse while I am completely disgusted with myself just with 1. That man is the devil... I will continue to live on even after this fatal mistake, and have revenge for those fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters he stole from other families including my own...
I never got her name... but her face... it's scarred into my mind.
Sunday:
The week started off well, I felt a change in me as if I have gotten older, stronger, smarter... I felt as if nothing could stop me.
I was walking around the borders of Wind Country when a loud enough explosion was seen and heard coming from Fire Country North. I immediately decided to take affirmative action and investigate this explosion and hoped noone was caught in the blast. When I got there, 2 Kiri shinobi showed up a girl and Koi-kun. It seemed the ANBU arrived and found a body that was brutally beaten and mauled. It seemed whoever the person was they were attacked by several people - and destroyed him half to hell.
The ANBU were capable of identifying the body though despite the beating along the face. It was the Story Teller who died, an S-Ranked Genjutsu specialist from Sound Village, and was a formidable opponent. Whoever could have done this to a high class ninja must have been exceptionally powerful as well - then a crippled old man with a walking stick arrived at the scene. I never got his name but he seemed like a high ranking official as the ANBU cowered at his presense and referred to him as "sir". They showed him whatever evidence they did collect along with a seal on the man... the Bokushou struck. The old timer then simply nodded and ordered them to take the body back to the Konoha Hospital for full autopsy - but I could not help he was hiding more than he is letting on. In a flash the ANBU were gone and he along with them... We were left to investigate the situation further.
Koi-kun met up with a friend of his named Kiyoshi, the first time I got the name of the Kaguya who has been behaving rather oddly around me and the other Suna-shinobi. It seems he has some sort of dislike towards us for whatever reason... but we all decided to instigate the situation further. A little girl then came from the woods in Fire Country North and seemed just as badly beaten and injured as the corpse that was whisked away, except she had bite marks around her body and were still fresh. We questioned what happend to her to put her in this sort of condition and she simply muttered the same phrase over and over again as she pointed ahead... "Those Eyes". We turned and saw Tomoyo Inari speaking with Kiyomi Takara, it seems both were reminicing about old times. Sasake-kun also showed up while he was in a wheel chair... Konoha shinobi have all the action it seems.
I asked Tomoyo Inari to use her sharingan and examine the girl although in a more subtle way... She didnt understand however which lead me to question her intellect. The little girl then began to bleed from her eyes, nose, mouth, and ears... I knew something was wrong some sort of viral infection possibly a foreign agent inflicting her... I used these symptomes to guide my better judgement and cure her of the illness, performing the "Poison Removal" technique... Tomoyo-Inari reactivated her Sharingan only in time to realize what my healing chakra was doing to her body. In a matter of seconds the girl was losing energy in a floating orb of chakra, and died the moment I tried to help... She laid limp in my arms with eyes wide open, her face was still dripping with blood from the poison... Inari then told me that my healing energy caused the backlash, as the poison was stimulated by chakra accelerating its potency. I was a fool...
The hovering orb of chakra over the girls body began to react abnormally and I decided to take the girl back to the hospital, I failed a patient... I failed to save a young life who had years ahead of her. First Kane, then Adrai, now this... people are dieing infront of me left and right - what the hell was going on? Rin-chan followed me, bless her heart for being so caring... but I was underserving of her kindness and pity. Monsters deserved no pity only death... I was like "Him" now and hated it with every fiber of my being. I placed the girl in room 1 of Konoha's hospital as the doctors examined her body, blood remained all over my hands as it has crusted over... Rin-chan tried to break me out of my current guilt but there is nothing that can do that - I wish I could just press the reset button and start over but that isnt possible.
I could not hear anymore of Rin's words because she is trying so hard, and her time could bebetter used helping the others on the investigation - I deserved to get imprisoned or better yet die, but I was still afraid to take my own life at least not until Sasori is dead.
Rin-chan left and I wished I didnt have to burden her with my ignorance, she is a true friend... I will repay her for her kindness someday but the girl continued to die in my arms over and over again as the moment replayed in my head. Was Kanya-sama and Tongu right...?
I remained in the hospital room by her bedside waiting for the girls parents to show so I could apologize to them personally - and so they can have some relief in knowing the identify of their child's killer, knowing I would turn myself into the Konoha authorities as well. I wept for her, trying to imagine the kind of life that youth would have lived had I not been so blind - had I been able to do more... I ripped that away from her and her family.
Anna-chan came into the room and realized I was crying, she saw the girl's condition and realized she was dead for several hours. I explained to Anna what happened and she produced her own study over the girls body understanding the symptoms - and agreeing with my first assumption... poison, but instead one that targeted the hosts' chakra and further potent when adding foreign chakra onto the host. She later convinced me to take her to the scene of the incident to gather more information on the poison - we headed to Fire Country South when we saw an Akatsuki named Vindel waiting for someone...
I could not have yet ANOTHER friend die, I was willing to protect Anna with my life yet questioned my healing ability. Vindel then informed us of a meeting he has with Takida-sama, who happened to stroll by in time. The two conversed and it turns out Vindel was Takida-sama's partner in their akatsuki days... doing research together. Vindel and Takida squared off for a moment as they shot glares activating their own dojutsu... Takida used his Oshimi ability that looked wonderous - while Vindel used a sharingan... fully manifested in the state Mangekyo. I sought to aid Takida when another akatsuki named "Terror" arrived stopping us from interferring. Vindel then warned us of an impending plot to gather the tailed beasts, Gaara-sama being one is also targetted. He offered more information for a price, that of being if Takida rejoined their cause whatever that is... And to seek out the "snake".
We all knew who that snake was as they vanished off, Kai-chan and Akane-chan arrived while Garry-san showed us his new friend "bob"the penguin, my rival is so strange... I forewarned Kai and Akane to tell their villages about the akatsuki plot to steal the tailed beasts. I took Anna with me to the crime scene in Fire Country North, and Garry-san tagged along with "Bob". I showed her the area as she collected some data on the chakra poison for later research and analysis to make a cure. I just froze looking at the spot the girl died in my arms... when a mouse came out of nowhere talking to us.
The mouse introduced himself as Master Shu, an elder mouse sage who is profficient in Taijutsu and Medical jutsu. He saw the happenings of earlier that day and told me not to get so bent out of shape... that losing a patient is normal in the medical field and should not stop me from achieving my goals... I listened to the small sages great words - but this burden would not leave my heart or her memory from my mind. I am cursed and plagued for the rest of my life to know that a false movement could take the life of a friend of mine instead of healing them.
Master Shu then offered us a request of his own which was to aid him in the further progress of a kiri shinobi who he views as an upincoming prodigy. I could not refuse with his advice and the chance to meet a "prodigy" for the first time. We were told however to make up an alias as to not frighten the kiri shinobi being from Sunagakure and so we did.
We headed to Kirigakure and waited at the front gates - Anna-chan used her time to visit the hospital and all its wonders. A moment later Master Shu arrived with the praised prodigy, who turned out to be a Jinokoi. One thing came to mind... "This must be a joke." I seen several Jinokoi's and the one during that B-Rank a week ago was no prodigy... just brutal in her methods. We didnt let up in aiding Master Shu however, and the Jinokoi was very civil... His name was Hideaki, a womanizer, and tactical genin. We introduced ourselves as well giving our names... or the names we came up with, made up a village, and our specialties in jutsu. Although, Garry-san faultered and admitted to be a puppeteer he did later on regain his alias by saying he is a "Sock puppeteer"... can you say facepalm?
We were in our final moments for the missions preparation when I had to take my leave recieving a call from a messenger bird that the girl's parents have claimed the body. I headed to Konoha straight away to speak with them - but I came too late and they were already gone...
Monday - Thursday:
I was in a period of mourning... I walked around the dunes as mirages appeared to me of that girl. I could not break free of this hell - and I deserved the suffering. I could not eat, sleep, or drink anything and just walked purely to and back from my internships at the hospital and the brigade. They could sense something was wrong with me but they did not have the means to cure me of regret.
Friday:
I was getting over the fatigue and sought to gather my thoughts after the four day hiatus. I met a few new friends, Ireko a shy but decent genin from Suna, and Seohyun another Suna genin that is a medic. I headed to Kirigakure with Ireko-kun in an attempt to reach out and forewarn them of the akatsuki's next move... but when we arrived we were welcomed like a piece of sh--... The thought of teaching some manners to these shinobi seemed tempting but it would help at all in the relations between Kiri and Suna, that and I cannot be a part of an international incident. I went ahead with Ireko and delivered my message to an ANBU shinobi, whatever they do with the intel is up to them... At least I can rest knowing I tried to save Kiri, I wouldnt be able to live myself knowing I held back information that would save the lives of my friends that lived in that village.
The Kaguya Kiyoshi continued to threaten us for defending Ireko from a bullying Jinokoi, whose named turned out to be Riko. I wouldnt let anyone push around a Suna shinobi - if there was going to be any hostility I did not mind if it was aimed towards me. Kiyoshi and I then agreed to a spar to settle the dispute between our villages, although I was taught to never trust a Kiri shinobi. I agreed so long as Ireko could prove himself as well to that Riko Jinokoi.
We entered the Kirigakure 7th training grounds and it is a great battle stadium... but there were plenty of corpses lieing about from earlier bouts. It is cruel how these shinobi think what they are doing is acceptable. We began the spar on the right foot in a 2 vs 2 match - however when I sought to use my tactics they turned their attention on taking out the weaker of the group... Ireko. How cowardice of them, it is something I will not soon forget... especially when that Emi girl appeared and threatened to behead Ireko if I did not reveal myself. What a bi---... I will not forget her any time soon. Our match continued however between Kiyoshi and Riko against me and my puppets... It was a draw for a time as I was aiming to take out the weaker of their team - saving all my nice tricks for the big talking Kaguya. Toga and Koga then appeared interrupting the match as they were looking for another subject for an experiment... me surprisngly enough.
Emi immediately attacked them, with Kiyoshi to cover her. I came out of hiding realizing the match is over - and treated Ireko to his wounds. Kiyoshi and Riko were disgruntled about the fact but I was too that they would both target one person. The match was meant to be between Kiyoshi and myself, and Riko against Ireko. Last time I try to spar in a 2 vs 2 with Kiri shinobi - although I wished Rin-chan or Dotu-kun could teach them about civility and honor. Toga and Koga were getting pushed into another fight as Emi would not stop her attacks, and so I tried to stop them for a moment. I knew what Toga and Koga were capable of... and it isnt pretty. I told the mad scientist duo I would go with them so long as there would be no more hostility here - and we were teleported, myself and Sasake with Toga and Koga.
Once in a safe location we were informed of the meeting and a possible offer for Sasake to work for them, whatever that meant. My part was to aid them in better understanding the puppet technique - I tried... but it isnt something you can "learn". They then aimed to target a master of the Puppet Technique, Aky-sama himself. I warned them that is a fight they could not win either having faced him already. They also requested us to inform Kiyomi for a chance to work under their organization as well - with a possible leader who is hidden from our knowledge. Just when you think you have them figured out they come up with some other crazy sh-- to make you think otherwise. I acknowledged their offer and would inform Kiyomi-chan of it... unfortunately.
Saturday:
I headed to Fire Country West later in the day, when I saw Kiyomi-chan and the guy who was there when Amatsu Kane died... His name was Kensu. They were in a spar as they showed off all of their prized moves, it was an impressive spectacle. Takida-sama showed up then observing the spar too... and drinking something from a cantine, I could not help but worry it was alchohol. I pleaded with him to stop drinking that junk but in a surprise he offered it to me, I sniffed it and had a taste as it was some sort of potion similar to the effects of a chakra pill. Unfortunately he had to leave quite mysteriously as he placed a seal in fire country West...
The fight between Kiyomi and Kensu came to an end shortly after Takida-sama's departure. Kiyomi was the victor and both decided to not go any further to the point of knocking the other out. I healed their wounds as much as I could, and drew the attention of a grass shinobi named Ken Ninyamashi, who was a medical genin himself. He asked for a lesson in learning the technique I used... I could tell he was a good shinobi from his demeanor - and was willing to aid him. I have seen a great amount of discipline in his lesson far greater than that of my own... yet he constantly fiddled with a flower he was holding. The Ninyamashi clan are quite unique and I still do not know much of them - but I hope too from Ken-kun.
We headed back from our lesson and saw another spar was coming to a close, Akiko-chan had just finished beating another shinobi with her amazing ability in Light jutsu. I noticed a small tournament was to come from this gathering as 2 jinokoi began to challange several people... several Konoha shinobi were also passing by when the 2 jinokoi bad mouthed a hyuuga jounin. I could not help but get worried for the Jinokoi pair... they do not realize the full extent of the Hyuuga "Gentle Fist". One of them was immediately knocked out in 1 hit, the other was biding time for the partner to wake up... Such cowardice. Needless to say the Hyuuga won, I believe his name was Neji as the girl often called out to him to stop the match.
Rin-chan then sought to fight me as well to which I accepted... it was a very long and grueling spar, she easily overpowered me but it wasnt power that I was aiming to beat her with but tactics. She acknowledged defeat giving me victory and I noticed there would soon be a line to face me too - for whatever reason I must be a great punching bag not being able to defend myself... Tongu-sensei was there to belittle me as per usual... I hate that man.
After the match with Rin I left to Suna mourning over the loss of the girl and over my broken puppets - it took the rest of my savings to finish repairing them. I decided to meditate later that night though when Kiyomi-chan arrived and we talked, I informed her of the proposal made, and acknowledged each other's art forms. I learned alot about her clan that day, and realize the beauty in every action they make.
Kiyomi-chan and I sparred as well in the Suna Stadium, it was a wonderous performance as she used great tactical skills against my own. I will whole heartedly admit I truely enjoyed that fight... we both learned something from it. Even though Tongu-sensei outed me and threw a bomb my way... getting me cut badly by Kiyomi's flaming sword technique. Did I say how much I hate that man? She headed back to the brigade afterwards seeking to prepare herself with a fight against Aky-sama... admirable but foolish.
Tongu-sensei and I talked about most of the occurances that happened this week, I did not have the heart to tell him about my failure to save the girls life... he would just make a joke and be cruel to me, and then I would be forced to strike him... it would not have ended well. In our discussion of Kiri shinobi namely the Jinokoi, he suddenly began to enter a state of obliviousness - as he stared off to space. His body slowly began to shut down too as if his mind was shutting down... Lucky for us Akiko thought of a great idea to wake him up but it didnt help... Kanya-sama arrived and inspected Tongu-sensei as he was about to enter a comatose state.
Akiko and I took Tongu-sensei to the hospital where Kanya-sama prepared an exam room for him. He slowly came too and after her diagnosis we came to the assumption that Tongu-sensei burned out his dojutsu... a temporary paralysis. As if this day could not get any better... I did learn of Tongu's greatest fear however... That is a bonus. After the examination I was yelled at to go do 5 laps around sunagakure with Akiko while they played Doctor... gross. I headed back and found Tongu preparing to head back home to Kenta-kun. It turns out he will be forced to have a paid leave for the time being which should be fun for any normal person... but for Tongu-sensei it will be hell not to be able to do anything.
I cannot say I enjoyed this week one bit - infact I wish it was erased... God if you are real please watch over this girl, help me to make sure something like this never happens again... I am sorry mother, you must be turning in your grave to know I have failed a patient and you would be right to do so. Forgiveness and getting over this week isnt enough... it just isnt.
