Rain comes down in sheets as a lone figure strides down the path leading from Lightning Country to the borders of the Fire Country. Hidden behind a mask, the figure stops at the border and stares at the once familiar scenery with mixed feelings. As the figure crosses the border into Fire, the rain abruptly stops and a flock of crows flies overhead, cawing loudly, as if mocking the intent of the stranger. Stroking the handle of an ancient blade strapped across its back, the figure removes a mask and shakes out a head of long, lustrous black hair and gazes at the forest ahead.
"This has to be...", a female voice says to no one in particular, removing a headband from her backpack and tying it securely around her left bicep. Taking the blade from its sheath she holds it firmly in her hand and begins to imbue the ancient blade with her chakra powers. Slowly, a gentle hum emits from the long unused sword and a haze of small, wind natured blades resembling fangs begin to dance around the blade as if yearning once again for the battles the wielder thought she had left behind her.
"Soon ,dear Kaze, soon", she coaxes the blade and slowly and deliberately replaces the blade into the ancient, rune covered sheath, symbols of a clan of sword masters long not seen in the lands of the FIre Country. Pulling a large, leatherbound jug from her back she uncorks the small gourd and takes a long pull of its contents.
"I wonder what Lady Tsunade will say...", she thinks aloud. Then slowly a grin breaks across her face as she takes another pull from the large jug and then gently, as if it was as precious as her blade, she restraps the small gourd to her back and pulls a pair of gloves from her pockets and replaces her mask.
"Time to take care of some unfinished business...and this time I won't turn back..."
As she puts on her gloves she flickers to the base of a large tree, typical of the forests of Konahagure, and tip toes her way to its highest branch. "Not much further now" she says to herself.
"Lets make the final stretch a workout, shall we Kaze?", she says, patting the hilt of the blade across her back and suddenly leaping down from branch to branch with perfect grace until she turns forward and begins racing toward home and an empty cabin probably long overgrown with cobwebs and dust.
"I think we'll stop at the old house and clean up a bit before we announce ourselves..."
Apparently long, solitary travels have forced her into the habit of talking to her sword as though it could hear her and possibly respond. Moving with the grace of a cat and the speed of an eagle, she soars from tree to tree, getting ever closer to a rather large village hidden somewhere deep within the leaves of this mighty forest...
