Ragura Kaguya and the Massacre of the Kaguya
"Mother, Father, where are you?!" Ragura cried out as he ran throughout the burning village, tears streaming endlessly down his face as it started to downpour, Rag quickly looking for shelter from the rain, the intensity of the flames flickering slightly from the pressure of the rain, but not making any lasting effect on it at all.
The rain seemed endless, Rag finally gathering the courage to go look for his parents once more, still screaming and running throughout the village, his cries not going unnoticed this time as he's confronted by a monstrously large man, Rag trembling as the man reaches down to grab him, instinctively Ragura would immediately shoot spikes made of bone out to force the mans hand back. . .
Now enraged, he draws a large sword strapped to his back and comes down with a heavy vertical slice, Rag easily avoiding the attack and the forming of a short spear in one hand made out of condensed bone, quickly rushing the giant sized bandit and forcing the bone straight into his spinal column, right in the middle of the bandit, causing him to collapse and fall under his own weight.
Soon after that Ragura had finally found his parents, their bodies laying side by side in a huge pool of blood, Rag completely devastated by the sight of it, throwing him into a violent rampage and killing everything in sight, not hesitating even once as they each fell into a puddle of blood, Rag soon finding himself in front of all the bodies of the dead bandits, tears still streaming from his eyes.
It wasn't long before he fled the village and sought refuge in another, concealing his presence through his travels and silently killing off any wildlife for sustenance, becoming quickly acclimated to the wilderness and being able to move stealthily and easily through them until one day. . . Ragura found himself in an uncommon land, his travels taking him from the water country, to the woods of the fire country, through the lightning country and waterfall country as well, although it wasn't easy for him to make it through these various countries, encountering many shinobi and bandits alike who wanted to kill, torture, experiment, and even use him, these fights neither proving difficult or easy, the one he remembers most though, surprisingly wasn't the one in his home village, but the one when he was seen in the borders of the Land of Grass, a shinobi by the name of Karunasa, the Iron Mind of Kusagakure encounted him, noticing a mist headband protector with a slash through it, alarming him that Ragura was a missing ninja of Kirigakure, and was intent on stopping him.
As Rag desperately fought against Karu, he kept trying to convince him that all he was searching, traveling, fighting alone and continuing to survive, was for a new home and to grow into a shinobi who was loyal to his village and its ideals. . . Karu finally realized that everything he said was true, even though he was a missing ninja, he sympathized with him, and was finally convinced that, not only would he be a great asset o the village, but that he would be doing a great service to him by allowing Ragura to stay in Kusagakure.
Although Karunasa knew the consequences of this, as a chuunin of the village, and a respected shinobi as well, he was ready to approach the daimyo and village leaders, fully prepared for everything they had in store for him. . . "You know, Karu, that we've watched you ever since you were a child, your development, the great potential you have been blessed with, but. . . realize that, this "Ragura" is one of the famous Kekkei Genkai holders of the Kaguya clan, that was massacred in an assault on their village, taking him in, will likely draw even more powerful shinobi from the outlying villages, even moreso from other countries, when they learn of his survival." Karu would nod once, confident and calm in his actions and decisions thus far to the jounin and other village leaders. " If this is your final decision, let it be known now, that you and you alone, are responsible for him." Karu would nod again, his next words flowing in a methodical tone as they always do, " I'm ready to accept that responsibility."
For days, months, years, Karu would raise Ragura into a fine shinobi of Kusagakure, surely a force to be recognized and a sign of true strength from the village hidden in the grass, his beginnings at the academy there, was ranked as the number one rookie, Rags skills and grace and knowledge of genjutsu from Karunasas teachings helping him a great deal in all of this, not taking very long to graduate from the academy at all, by age 9, he had already finished with the academy and had gone through many missions, all of which, were successfully, having been exposed to two A ranked missions, two B ranked, four C ranked and five D ranked, all of which, disturbingly yet not surprisingly, he returned form unharmed.
As Ragura continued to grow and mature, by the age of eleven, he was ready to become a chuunin, although Karu approved strongly of this, the village jounin wanted to ensure that he was ready in the true shinobi world, waiting for them to hold another chuunin exam to make sure he was in fact chuunin material, Karu of course upset by this move at the jounin council, but also slightly relieved and glad, that he would have more time to train Ragura. . .
Rag didn't mind waiting, he was happy that he was finally given the chance to prove himself, and was ready to not disappoint anyone and prove that he was determined and loyal to his village the best that he could. . . In the meantime, Karu took this opportunity to train up Ragura even more, polishing his skills and mastering jutsu of his clan and fellow skills taught by shinobi of the village.

------ Timeline of Events (Age 6-12) -----
- The Massacre (Age 6) -
Fires blazed and slowly engulfed the village on the outlying edges of the water country, Mist shinobi and many bandits terrorizing the Kaguya clan, threatening to rid them and their kind from the shinobi world, Ragura, now one of the lost survivors of the famous Kekkei Genkai, known as the Dead Bone Pulse.
- The Survival (Age 7) -
After the massacre of Raguras clan and home, he fled into the wilderness for a while. surviving off the wild life and day by day, trying harder to escape the water country, months going by as he continued to hunt wild life and desperately try to survive, until. . .
One day was disturbingly more quiet than normal, the natural sounds of the wilderness no where to be heard, as Rag found himself staring down a monstrous sized man who wore a mist headband around his bicep, a gigantic sword strapped to his back, his cold dead eyes glaring at the lone Kaguya, Ragura knew all too well that there's a time an a place for everything, and this was a time to fight. He was scared, but then, who wouldn't be? This monster of a shinobi staring him down with a sword twice his size strapped to his back. It wasn't long after both staring at each other did the fight finally begin, Rag making a small bone shard, sharpened and hardened with chakra from his wrist, quickly leaping and in one strong slash, slicing the monstrous sword clean in half and then flickering from his sight and re appearing behind him, driving his bladed bone shard into the huge shinobis spinal column in a vital spot, causing it to snap in half and force the man to collapse under the weight of his own body, Rag was tired now, finding a secluded area in the forest and taking this opportunity to regain his strength. . .
A few hours later Ragura would wake up, now fully rested and continuing his search. After an hour went by, he would find himself at the edge of the forest, staring at a boat as he quickly snuck into the cargo hold as it was departing.
- The Search (Age 8) -
"I turned eight today. . ." Ragura saying this then letting out a sigh, soon finding himself in an unknown land, trees filled the surrounding area as he smiled, even though he had no idea where he was, he felt at home, having lived in the wilderness for so long, it wasn't long before he continued his search, leaping through the woods and occasionally stopping to rest and hunt for food.
Hours went by as he passed the outskirts of the various countries, Rag encountering many shinobi and bandits along the way through them as he finally found himself in the outskirts of the Land of Grass, wandering for about an hour anda half, knowing that he would noticed sooner or later, and he was right, as he neared the village, he was spotted along the Tenchi bridge, quickly being stopped by a shinobi with serpent-like designs on it that covered his entire form, "Speak your name and purpose, your answer will determine whether you live or die." The Kaguya was down trodden but hopeful, as he explained to the shinobi what happened to his clan and how he just wanted a new home to start fresh in.
Although the shinobi didn't believe him initially, the two of them fought, and as the battle dragged on, he finally sympathized with the Kaguya. (Refer back to background bio before statistics for events to follow this.)
- Two hours later -
"We've decided that he may stay. . ." Karu would smile, then. . . "But it's your responsibility to raise him, understand?" He would nod once, finally exiting and beginning Raguras training immediately.
- The Training (Age 9-12) -
Sweat beads consume Rags body as he continues to improve his speed and genjutsu skill drastically, as well as his willpower, nothing less expected from a pupil of the greatest genjutsu adept in the village, Karunasa becoming more and more pleased with each and every success, stopping only when Rag was completely unable to continue his training for the day and taking short breaks for rest to regain energy and continue training, Karu pushing Rag to his limits and far beyond them sometimes, fully ensuring that he was not going to allow him to not only live up to his nindo and make the village look good as well.
Days dragged on and turned into weeks, then months, the time passing by as Karunasa continued to push Ragura further and further far beyond what he thought he was capable of, but the promise of power and the ability to overcome any obstacle or complete any task given to him with expert proficiency, Raguras skill in battle and speed and being an adept in genjutsu gave him an uncanny advantage over any adversary he may encounter.
Some days were harder than others, depending on what he was being taught and the conditions in order for him to complete the tasks given by Karu, even times when he just wanted to give up, but knew extremely well that he would only disappoint Karunasa and the village, which would be a violation of his nindo, instead pushing himself even harder to become better than he was before.
A normal day started just like any other when Rag woke up one morning, looking forward to his training like normal when he heard the sound of villagers screaming and quickly ran outside to find half the village on fire, a flashback of when his home village was assaulted by the bandits and shinobi of Mist, shocked by the sight but not paralyzed with fear, Ragura determined now to not let his new home not perish the same way his home in the water country did.
After about ten minutes of searching the village, Rag finally found Karunasa fighting a missing ninja of the village, and from the looks of things, wasn't winning, Karu would turn to look at Rag, " Rag, go get more help, I'll hold him off while I can." Ragura would nod and then dash off, scouring the village for any available help, quickly finding a couple jounin who were cleaning up around the village and taking them to Karu.
By the time they had gotten to him, Karunasa had been badly injured, yet, he stood there, panting heavily as blood dripped from various wounds on his body, hovering over the missing ninjas body as it lie there in a pool of blood, glancing over to the jounin and Ragura and smiling a moment before collapsing on top of the missing shinobi, all of them rushing over to help him up, Rag carefully placing him over one shoulder and rushing him to the hospital as he simply expected the jounin to finish cleaning up.
Hours went by as Ragura waited outside the hospital, the nurse finally coming out, " He's in a coma and won't be coming out of it for a long time, I suggest you find a new sensei, Ragura." The nurse would walk off silently, Rag lowering his head and simply walking off. . .
Time didn't stop as Ragura wandered the village aimlessly, completely unsure as to how he was going to continue his training with someone else, knowing well that there was no one in the village who could make Rag more proficient in genjutsu than Karu.
- Three hours later, back at the hospital -
Karu would blink a few times, glancing around only to find Ragura standing beside him, a smile slowly creeping across his face as his eyes lit up, Rags hope now renewed now that his sensei had finally woken up, "About time you woke up Karu-sensei, comon you gotta start training me again!" he was excited now, and Karu knew it as he smiled and pushed off the mat and rose elegantly, glancing at Rag and nodding once as he walked off.
- One hour later, at the academy -
"It's time for you to learn a vital ability to a shinobis life Rag." As he said that, Karu would focus chakra to his feet, walking up to the wall and planting one foot on it before walking up it and before long, was standing directly above Ragura, staring down at him. "Focus chakra to your feet Rag and maintain it, then walk up the wall, do one full lap without running and you'll have learned it." He would smile and nod, glancing down at his feet and closing his eyes as he began to focus chakra to his feet, approaching the wall and planting a foot on it, letting it sit there a moment before attempting to walk, making some decent progress about halfway up the wall as he feels his chakra balance failing, quickly ending the chakra focus and flipping back, marking the spot where he made it with a slash from a condensed bone. . .
An hour passed by as Rag made unbelievable progress, doing two full laps without running once as Karu dropped from the ceiling and smiled at Ragura, he was impressed at his progression, and Rag could see it.
- Four hours later -
"You've made excellent progress today Rag, I'm very proud of you." He smiled again, considering how much he had accomplished today, from perfecting his movements and speed and already learning how to balance his chakra in order to walk on solid surfaces and even becoming more proficient in his genjutsu abilities. "Lets go get something to eat, whatever you want, it's on me." Rags eyes would light up, it was the first time since he had been with Karu that he had offered to take him out, "Umm, Karu-sensei, can we goto a barbecue?" another smile crept across his face as he nodded, "Of course."
- One hour later -
Rag would laugh as Karu told him about the time when he made a class mate curl into the fetal position by making him believe there was a mini clone of Orochimaru who went around and stole every kids pencil and beat them to a pulp with it, a mischievious grin growing on his face, Ragura licking the flavor from the barbecue off his fingers and cleaning up neatly with a napkin, placing the plate to the side and leaning back in his seat and folding his arms behind the back of his head, "Arigato Karu-sensei, that was great!" he would smile softly as he nodded again, "Today was a good day Ragura, you made a lot of progress today, tomorrow will be even harder though, so rest well and be prepared for the hardest training of your life!" Rag would smile and nod, slowly rising from his seat and walking off back to his room.
- The next morning, 5 and a half hours later -
A loud crash would rumble through the house as he quickly leaped out of bed and dashed out his door, coming to a quick halt as he stopped an inch away from a ninja wire that was concealed quite well, completely un-noticeable had the light not reflected off him when he was running to the door, quickly going under it and finally making it to the front door, reaching for the handle as he glanced down only to find an explosive tag underneath it that almost blended in with it, was this put there on purpose, Rag thought to himself as he lightly peeled it off the handle and placed it in a slot on his belt, quickly turning the handle and walking outside the larger room to find the entire area filled with monstrous vines and snakes, the thorns in them about the size of Rags body as he shaked his head and closed his eyes, focusing his chakra and releasing it as the genjutsu faded, Karu dashing at Rag and vanishing from his sight for a moment before re appearing behind him, slashing at his back quickly, Ragura glancing behind him and spinning rapidly around as a small bone shard shoots out from his wrist into his hand to form a short spear, deflecting Karus attack and then dropping backward and planting one hand into the ground as he pushed up and sent his foot compressed with chakra to Karus chin, Karu thinking to himself *He hasn't gone soft just yet, that's good, and his speed and chakra control is improving, can't hold back anymore* Karunasa would grin as he vanished before Rags eyes, spiraling out of existance as a huge pair of serpent like eyes glared at Rag, a wave of kunai flying directly at him and arcing from every angle at the last moment, spinning again as he closes his eyes and breaks the genjutsu again, his entire form vanishing as he makes a single hop into the air, coming directly down on Karu with a chakra filled foot to his skull. . .
He missed again, now thinking how much he had taught him on a shinobis assets, quickly sheathing his katana and interlacing his fingers, "That's enough for today Ragura, well done." Rag stopped rushing for a moment to contemplate, was he serious? No, this is a test, he was testing him on how much I would remember, Rag spinning the bone in his hand as he vanished and leaves kicked up as he did so, Karu smiling, thinking *Good, he hasn't forgotten* he would flicker again, clashing against Raguras blade with his Katana, Rag dropping down and doing a quick fake sweep to catch Karu off guard as he goes to evade the first attack, Ragura quickly spiraling up and focusing chakra to his shoulders and knocking him into the air, leaping up and performing a forward flip and smashing his heel into Karus gut, knocking him into the ground as Rag pushes off with the tip of his toe from his gut, flipping backwards and assuming a defensive stance as Karu would vanish from his spot where he layed on the ground, monstrous thorny vines lashing out and strapping Rag down to the ground.
"Alright, that's good Ragura, I'm glad you haven't forgotten the assets of a shinobi." He would rise slowly, smiling and nodding again as the bone blade melds back into his wrist.
"Karu-sensei, do you have dreams?" Rag would ask politely as he silently looks up at him, "Everyday Ragura, what about you. . ." Rag would nod with a polite smile across his face, "One day I hope I'll bring great honor to Kusa, and in doing so, I shall bring honor to you, and have you be known as the greatest sensei to have ever lived!" Karunasa would smile and lower his eyes, simply nodding as they both rose simultaneously from their seats, staring at each other a moment before walking outside. . .
"It's time to begin todays training Ragura." He would nod once as his gaze followed his sensei, lowering himself to stretch out before raising back up, standing idly with his arms completely lined up with his sides, Karu spiraling out right before his eyes, Ragura simultaneously closing his eyes as he fades out, sliding his headband over his eyes and quickly dispelling the genjutsu, Rag now throwing himself into a rapid spin, bones lashing out of him as one forms into a short spear with a chakra condensed edge, deflecting an incoming attack from Karu as his ears perked up to his movements, using the sound of his movements as a locater, Rag vanishing quickly as debris kicks up and Ragura re appears above Karunasa, spinning his body rapidly as he turns into a mini tornado, focusing chakra to his shoulders and slamming directly into his shoulders, the crunch of the blow knocking Karu to his feet as Rag would stop spinning, planting the tip of his toe in Karunasas gut and leaping off from it, a wicked grin forming across his face as Karu rises slowly from a small crater created from the impact of Rags strike, coughing up a bit of blood as Ragura lifts his headband up and frowns slightly at his sensei, "I believe you're ready now, Ragura" Karu would smile happily and nod once, Rag knew he was being serious now as a wide grin formed on his face, regarding Karus nod with a slow nod of his own.
EDIT: All finished.
